YOGA RETREATS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS FOR 2022
Crystal's Classes
Yin
By using and listening to ones breath, students are set up in
poses of discomfort (not pain) allowing muscles to release and
soft tissue to stretch. Meditation through body awareness.
Students are guided through verbal imagery to realize energy
(emotions) that are trapped in the tissues of the body. Undoing
possibly years of muscular imbalances that have resulted in the
deteriorating health in the the following five kosha’s (bodies);
annamaya (physical body) pranayama (breath/life-force body),
manomaya (mental body), vunanamaya (wisdom body);
anandamaya (bliss body).
Dragon Warrior (Yang-Yin)
This class is a twist on a sequence organized by a well know Yogi
I admire, Bernie Clark. The first half of class students move
through a range of motions organized to have fun, let out your
inner ninja, and beast (dragon) from within. We breath and move,
taking our bodies through a range of motions designed to flush
muscles, and lubricate joints. While the first half of class works
with the structural components of the body, masculine tissues,
the second had of the class works with the supportive tissue.
The glue that holds our bodies together, our feminine tissues,
facia, ligaments & tendons. Here students are encouraged to
turn inwards as they surrender into restorative yin poses. The
opportunity for those who desire to get a little deeper into poses
will be offered, combination of yoga hands on assists with the
incorporation of Reiki techniques to remove energy blocks.
Yoga Nidra is form of guided meditation also known as “yogic
sleep” or “effortless relaxation”. Students normally practice nidra
laying in corpse pose with props to support them. However
modified laying arrangements can be made in advance, to
support the comfort of the student. Students will then be guided
through a meditation. This systematic meditation takes you
through the pancha maya kosha (five layers of self), draws our
attention inwards, and we learn to surf between the states of
wakefulness and sleep. When our body finds its natural state of
equilibrium (homeostasis), you are left with a sense of wholeness.
The breath balances and becomes quiet, unconscious and
conscious aspects of the mind reveal themselves, and we fall into
an innate state of deep, blissful awareness.
